Stator Case Measurements System

Controlling the radial length of turbine blades greatly enhances the efficiency of a turbine engine. To further this, it is also desirable to measure the stator cases so that they can be match-ground to the rotor diameters.

Traditionally, stator cases are measured with contacting sensors such as LVDTs. This method can be unreliable and slow and is inherently prone to errors.

Hawk Aerospace is developing an automated, non-contacting measurement machine specifically for this purpose. The first of such machines is being developed for the T-700 engine. This first machine will serve as the basic platform and can be scaled for other engine models.

The stator case measurement machine will compliment the Hawkeye blade tip measurement system providing a complete solution.
